As part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, the management of Independent Television (ITV) and Independent Radio 92.3FM Benin, The Heart Beat Station, has announced its 2026 Pre-Independence Anniversary Public Lecture.
In a statement Signed by Dr. Sunny-Duke Okosun, Deputy General Manager Programmes Division ITV and Radio and Chairman Special Events Committee, the highly anticipated lecture which has become a flagship intellectual engagement for the broadcast stations, will focus on the state of the nation and the road to 2027.
According to the statement, this year’s lecture is themed TOPIC: THE NIGERIAN DREAM STILL VALID OR DEAD ON ARRIVAL, with a SUB-THEME: FROM BALLOT TO BETTER LIFE: WHAT SHOULD 2027 ACTUALLY DELIVER.
The statement disclosed that renowned constitutional lawyer, human rights activist and Distinguished Legal Practitioner, Femi Falana, SAN, will be the Guest Speaker. Falana is expected to dissect the fate of the Nigerian dream 66 years after independence and set a developmental agenda for what Nigerians should realistically expect from the 2027 general elections beyond mere political rhetoric.
Other side attractions include a panelist discussion on the sub-theme, cultural dance presentation, keynote addresses and goodwill messages
Dr. Okosun stated that the lecture is designed as a non-partisan civic platform to interrogate governance, democracy, and national development, and stressed that admittance is free.
The statement emphasized that the event is FREE TO ATTEND, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND ALL ARE WELCOME, including political leaders, captains of industry, civil society organizations, students, youth groups and the general public, with no gate fee required.
The event is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 30th September, 2026 by 10AM prompt at the *Ehizua Hub and Event Centre, No 85 Airport Road, Benin City, directly opposite Glass House with guest expected to be seated at 9.30AM
