‎DTSG Clarifies Security Simulation at Asaba International Airport, Urges Public to Ignore False Report

The attention of the Delta State Government has been drawn to a story being circulated online that armed men invaded Asaba International Airport this morning.

‎The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu in a statement has clarified that the online story was false in its entirety as the deployment which was stated in the online report was a drill exercise organised by the National Security Adviser at the Asaba International Airport and Ogwashi-Uku in practical simulation of a Rapid Response activity by security operatives and other emergency responders.

‎It was a demonstration of co-ordinated responses on how the Security agencies should jointly respond to threats such as terrorism, kidnapping, banditry and similar attacks and this simulation Exercise was concluded yesterday.

‎The statement added that the event was given adequate publicity wherein residents of Asaba Capital Territory and environs were notified by Government and Security Agencies both before and during the exercise.

‎The SSG therefore calls on residents of the state to disregard the online report as it is a figment of the writer’s imagination.

‎The Government of Delta State will continue to give maximum priority to the safety of lives of citizens and residents of the state, the statement added.
