The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, said 53 suspects have been arrested over the recent killings in Benue and Plateau states.
Egbetokun disclosed this to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday.
Recall that the recent wave of deadly attacks in Benue and Plateau states claimed dozens of lives and left several others injured or displaced.
According to the police boss, the June 13 massacre in Yelewata community in Benue State was a “coordinated attack of terror.”
He said 22 of the suspects were arrested for the attack in Yelewata, another 22 suspects for the killings in Plateau and another five in Benue for a more recent attack.
Egbetokun explained that 47 persons were killed and 27 were injured in the Yelewata attack.
He added that two general-purpose machine guns and eight AK-47 rifles used in the attack were recovered.
