In a grand ceremony held at the 38th International Conference of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NiMechE) tagged EKO 2025, Engr.
Prof. Raphael Olumese Edokpia was conferred with the prestigious award of Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FNiMechE).
The award was presented by the National Chairman of NiMechE, Engr. Alhassan Abdu Mohammed, in recognition of Prof. Edokpia’s outstanding contributions to the engineering profession and academic excellence.
The EKO 2025 conference, which was held in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria, brought together renowned engineers, academics, and industry experts to share knowledge, innovate, and showcase cutting-edge technologies.
The conference theme, “Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Development,” highlighted the importance of harnessing technological advancements to drive economic growth and development.
Prof. Edokpia, who is the Director of Consultancy Services at the University of Benin, has made significant contributions to the field of mechanical engineering through his research, teaching, and community service. His work has had a profound impact on the engineering profession, and his commitment to excellence has earned him numerous accolades.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Edokpia who is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers FNSE, Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria, FIMC; Fellow of Institute of Management Services in the UK and a Global Peace Ambassador, GPA ,expressed his gratitude to the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers for the prestigious award.
He dedicated the award to his family, colleagues, and students, acknowledging their support and contributions to his success.

Meanwhile Prof Raphael OLumese Edokpia has been nominated as an award recipient at the prestigeous 2025 Leadership and Development Awards where he alao expected to be the chairman on the occasion at much anticipated ceremony being organized by the Leadership and Development Initiative
The event scheduled for Ehizua Hub and Event Centre, Airport Road Benin City on Friday 19th December, 2025, at 12 noon is expected to bring together distinguished leaders, innovators and change-makers to recognize and celebrate their outstanding contributions to leadership and Development.
