In a bold move to safeguard the health of Edo citizens, the Edo State Health Regulatory and Monitoring Agency (EDOHERMA) has warned organizers of medical outreaches to seek approval before hosting events.
Dr. Adesuwa Uroghide, CEO of EDOHERMA, emphasized the importance of regulation during the inaugural medical outreach, held in partnership with the Edo State Government House Clinic and Nigerian Dental Association to mark World Oral Health Day.
We will no longer tolerate indiscriminate hosting of medical outreaches without approval,” Dr. Uroghide declared. “Our primary concern is the health safety of Edo citizens, and we will ensure that all medical events meet the required standards with proper licenses, qualified professionals, and adequate equipment.”The event was a testament to Governor Monday Okpebholo’s commitment to providing affordable and functional healthcare, as echoed by Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa.
“This initiative demonstrates the administration’s dedication to the Shine Agenda,” he said.Special Advisers on Health, Dr. Andrew Iyamu and Dr. Precious Omo, alongside State Commissioner of Health Dr. Cyril Oshiomole, commended EDOHERMA’s efforts to eradicate quackery and substandard practices in the state.
